In New York City, there is a family of Italian style restaurants with its roots in Venice, and blossomed establishments reaching from Los Angeles to Hong Kong. Cipriani locations have made a name for themselves as sought after social experience. Celebrities and socialites often fill tables of the five NYC locations or attend events such as the wedding of NBA Star Carmelo Anthony and TV personality Lala Vasquez at the elaborate Harry Cipriani Ballroom. But of the five locations the quant SOHO eatery, Cipriani Downtown deserves special attention.
When passing Cipriani Downtown on a summer evening you’re immediately attracted to the outside tables filled with people laughing and talking over a glass of wine or the classic Cipriani Bellini. You’re compelled to gain entrance to what seems to be an exclusive drinking and dining experience.
Perhaps my favorite NYC restaurant, Cipriani Downtown offers a casual version of the Cipriani classic menu in the relaxed SOHO environment. Featuring appetizers such as a delectable celery soup or baby artichoke salad and avocados with shaved Parmesan, you are guaranteed to start your evening off right. Main Courses including my favorite Filet Mignon with a peppercorn sauce served with asparagus or a classic Risotto alla primavera, Cipriani Downtown has meals and an atmosphere bound to please.
